Don’t you want me, baby?

Five years ago, I stopped writing Varnish. But I’m back now, apparently announcing my return like a slightly pathetic 1980s pop song.

10 Reasons I Haven’t Written This Blog in Five Years

  1. I was busy having a career.

  2. And even busier trying to survive that career… in tech.

  3. The higher I climbed in my career, the more complicated people I met.

  4. My children grew up, despite my repeated instructions not to.

  5. We acquired a highly opinionated dachshund who now rules the roost.

  6. The world became so absurd that satire briefly seemed redundant.

  7. So I spent an unreasonable amount of time on the sofa, gasping at the headlines and eating cheese on toast.

  8. I did write. I just decided nobody needed to read my laments.

  9. I got very good at telling myself I’d write something for Varnish next week.

  10. But somewhere along the way, I wrote a novel.

So Varnish is back… and I can’t promise I won’t be snarky.
